Hull Assembly - Lắp ráp thân tàu
All photographs are reproduced by kind agreement of Mathew Erdis
This shows the arrangement of blocks in the dock bottom onto which the vessel is assembled
This shows how the ship is built up as prefabricated blocks. This has several advantages such as flexibility is built into the production line. It is not unusual for the yard to build sections for vessels not under construction. The author has seen 3 bow sections in the builders yard in japan only one of which had a vessel build number which could be related to a vessel under build at the time he was there
This is an excellent photograph showing cross sections through a large double hull tanks and what was first thought by the author to be a large bulk carrier. I am a little confused by what appears to be tumble home at the upper hopper and wonder if this is not a prismatic tank gas carrier
In all the tanker pictures you will notice that they are double skinned and the wing tanks are particularly clean with heavy web framing being restricted to the centre tanks
